Beacon MMA Expands into New Space in Governors Village

Beacon Mixed Martial Arts has officially moved into its new home at 50051 Governors Dr, Suite E, in Governors Village! Offering both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai, Beacon MMA stands out as the only true mixed martial arts (MMA) academy in Chapel Hill.

Since its opening, Beacon MMA has experienced tremendous growth, earning back-to-back Best of Chapel Hill awards in 2023 and 2024. This achievement made Kirby Farrales and Rose Farrales of BOLD Real Estate the first husband-and-wife Best of Chapel Hill winners that we’re aware of—with Rose winning Best Realtor in 2023.

With growth comes expansion, and 2024 marked an exciting milestone with the launch of Beacon Physical Therapy & Performance, led by Dr. Kelsi Kazmierczak—a Beacon MMA Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu purple belt, two-time national kickboxing champion, and UNC graduate. The addition of physical therapy and performance training further solidifies Beacon MMA as a premier destination for both martial arts and fitness in Chapel Hill.

Now, in 2025, Beacon MMA is officially settled into its larger space, ready to take its programs to the next level.

“We were busting at the seams after 2 short years, so the move could not have come at a better time. We have so much in the works to mirror our Philadelphia-area headquarters: an after-school program, summer camp, physical therapy, individualized performance training, more noon classes, and eventually morning classes… and we finally have the space to get it all done. Because of the culture we have carefully cultivated, we have a strong female presence on our mats, which is unusual for most martial arts academies, a continually growing kids program in a predominantly adult martial art, and a roster of athletes ranging from hobbyists to champions. We’re very proud of what we’ve accomplished in such a short amount of time and excited to see what the future has in store for us in our new home!
