The family looks forward to many more years of continued philanthropy, happiness, and prosperity in Chatham County.
Senior Associate
Chela Tu, CCIM
Chela is BOLD’s senior associate broker and resident CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member). This designation means that when you work with Chela, you are working with the most advanced investment specialist anywhere – someone who will minimize your risk, maximize your ROI and optimize the value of your real estate.
Before BOLD, Chela spent 5 years as VP of Membership for Chapel Hill Chamber of Commerce. As an account executive at a local broadcasting company, Chela hosted a popular micro podcast called Tu for Two. And prior to getting her broker’s license, Chela worked at an international office space company where she was the top area performing sales manager. She has an entrepreneurial spirit, as well. Chela owned and operated Chirba Chirba, the immensely popular Chinese dumpling food truck.
All this likely explains why Chela is equally comfortable and adept at working with investors as she is helping small businesses looking to lease their first space. It’s also why she is known for getting the inside scoop on what’s on the market and where deals can be had.
She closed 16 transactions across Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Pittsboro, Durham and Cary, in her very first year in the commercial real estate business. School of Rock, Even Dough and Big Mike’s BBQ are all businesses that have benefited from Chela’s commercial real estate savvy. Healthcare, professional services and education firms have also found their perfect spot by working with her.
Chela is a graduate of UNC, where she majored in international relations. She is fluent in Mandarin and taught ESL in Beijing for 8 years, before returning to proudly root in Chapel Hill. She is the mom of two young kids and solidified her world ranking in Jiu Jitsu, and earned her CCIM, while pregnant with baby #2. She is committed to fashionable re-use and regularly hosts clothing swaps in the community. When she cooks, she never makes the same dish twice because she loves diversity.
Yes, Chela is scrappy, and she will make that scrappiness work for you!
